The secret colorful alley in downtown Yangon

It is perhaps no longer a secret, but it is certainly colorful. To find this alley, enter 29th street from Bogyoke Aung San Street. Walk for a bit and you will see the entrance to the alley on your right. It used to a back alley filled with trash. A local NGO undertook this beautification project and turned it into a playground for kids.

When you turn in the 29th street, look for a shop where with the two sleeping cats, they are called Copy and Paste. They secret ally starts just after this shop.

Once you are in this neighborhood, you can see the cutest bookseller in the world, try the frozen coffee at Cafe Genius on 31st Street, try the super greasy briyani or the local dessert hpaluda at Nilar’s (between 31st Street and 32nd Street on Anawratha Road ) and some shopping at the Bogyoke Aung San market. Junction city has some familiar cafes and the Pan Pacific has a cozy bar/cafe.
