The dolls of Awashima Jinja

In our Japan, many believe that dolls and figurines have souls. We should be more careful when we discard them or else their souls will keep haunting us. Many people bring their dolls to Awashima Jinja where they are placed neatly all over the shrine. The priests here will calm their souls and safely let them sink into the ocean in an annual ceremony.
